But it isn’t long before Kate begins to notice something a little odd about Vincent and his friends. She later learns his name is Vincent Delacroix and despite his seeming too good to be true, he seems interested in her, Kate. ![]() Kate sees the boy and his friend around several times. Kate is shy and unaccustomed to such attention, blushing and trying to avoid his gaze, even though she finds her eyes drawn back to him again and again. One, who is very good-looking, is staring at her. ![]() She doesn’t spend much time going out or getting to know any new people over the summer before school starts…until she is sitting in a cafe one day and sees two boys a nearby table. She soon finds herself ignoring her friends from home’s emails because she doesn’t know how to respond, and deleting her email account. She’s not outgoing, not a flirt and not a party animal like Georgia. Kate is struggling to accept the loss of their parents. ![]() Having spent most summers in Paris growing up, they are familiar with it and both speak the language and it will be nice to be around their remaining family members. Georgia makes the decision that they will move from their home in New York, to live with their grandparents in France. Kate and her older sister Georgia are now orphans, having lost their parents in a car accident. ![]()
